Falcon Power!

Fellow Pilots,
War Robots is full of funny bird-like robots.  Especially the Emu, ahem, Kumiho.  Despite my affection for the deadly Ravens of Lottie-Rose Robinson's, the "best of the birds" is the Falcon.  We recommend Falcon to all pilots without qualifications.  Are you a sniper?  A knife fighter?  A beacon capper extraordinaire?   No matter how you play the game, Falcon is our recommendation for pilots who play in Champion league (or aspire to!).  Falcon can be obtained for 7500Au or using the Workshop.

Let's start with the stat sheet.  Falcon has decent speed (50), and 155K health at level 12 (186K for MK2/12).  One heavy weapon is mounted in the central spot, and it can not be destroyed.  In its normal configuration, Falcon reduces all incoming damage, regardless of weapon type or direction, by 66%.  This, for speakers of Math(s) as a second language, means that you can absorb damage in amounts that are up to triple a Falcon's health - 465K for level 12, 558K for MK2/12.  Add in the active module for repairs, and the result is an indestructible tank.

If you've ever destroyed a Falcon, chances are you caught one with his "Fangs Out."  This unfortunate term, befitting a snake more than a bird, is used to describe the Falcon with all three heavy weapons deployed and a jump at the ready.  Damage is no longer reduced.  The implications are obvious - you can give and receive much more damage with "Fangs Out."  Thus, the patient pilot is rewarded.  Wait for the right opportunity, like a Spectre which has already fired a full salvo of Orkans or an Avenger Bulwark in the reload cycle.  If you are running Tridents or Avengers on the Falcon, you might be out of your opponent's range.  Either way, think like a Griffin pilot too - if your weapons are deployed, your jump is available to make your opponents miss.

Professor Duke Dutch has provided our dozen or so readers with an EXCELLENT video showcasing a Falcon piloted with good discretion.  If you want, you can skip to 10:45 for an amazing two minute one-on-one battle with a Dragoon Bulwark wherein Duke disables the Bully's shield several times, moving him out of an effective position, then destroys a far-off Spectre, and finally destroys the Bulwark.

Finally, the Falcon is cheaper and faster to upgrade than many other new robots.  You can check the exact times here on the War Robots Wiki; I'll summarize to say that the final two upgrades (to levels 11 and 12) are roughly equal in total cost and time to the last (level 12) upgrade on robots like Bulwark and Pursuer.  The whole cycle winds up being far less resource intensive.

Happy hump day, and go get a Falcon!
