Double Supply Drops, Triple Upgrade Speed!

UPDATE 29 December 2019: Nerf incoming!  With the December update, Pixonic cut the available silver in half by only allowing one commercial per day in the supply drop category.  Reducing upgrade time remains the same (64 hours per day by watching ten advertisements).

Fellow Commanders,
I'll post an update to this page when/if things should change, but as of October 2019, Pixonic has dramatically accelerated upgrade times.  You didn't notice?  That's because several beneficial changes were never clearly communicated to the players.

Let's start with the big one - Pix changed the payoff for watching an individual advertisement from a 30 minute reduction in upgrade wait time to a 240 minute reduction.  They also allow you to watch ten ads in this area per day.  This means that in any 24 hour period, you pass 64 hours of upgrade time if you burn all ten ads ... almost three full days.  Math it out for a week, and that's 18.66 days of upgrade wait time in any seven day period.

You can skip a paragraph here if you already know how to watch ten ads instead of five.  Watch five from your main hangar screen.  Then click on "equip" for the bot carrying the weapon you wish you upgrade.  Then hit the button to speed the upgrade with gold.  Regardless of whether you have enough gold, it will ask you whether you wish you use gold or ads.  Now you can watch five more, increasing your total to a 40 hour credit!

I don't know whether there's a conspiracy to get you to buy silver, but this will definitely pressure your resources a little more.  You might consider keeping a new level 1 acquisition around to have something less pricey to upgrade; in my case I've got a Loki, Ao Jun, and Invader going through the MK2 cycle and they aren't silver intensive yet.

I'm not the first person to report the way to get an extra supply drop, so please pardon me if you've seen this as well.  If you run an ad during the time you would normally get a supply drop via the clock, you actually get two.  It's simple IF you are in-game at the exact moment a drop will occur, a little trickier if not.  All you have to do is wait for the drop to occur, and right before, run an ad.  Don't leave the ad screen until you know the supply drop has happened.  Viola!

Here's a quick video that shows both of the above concepts -

Have a great week,
Doc Yat
