Solidarity! Or not!

Fellow Pilots,
I'm sure some of you are already aware of the "No Modules" organizing efforts.  They've been widely publicized on Discord, the War Robots Forum, and in the War Robots related Facebook groups.  We first wrote about modules a few weeks ago when they appeared out of nowhere on the test server.

You may be cynical about the effort's prospects for "success" in the narrow sense of stopping players from purchasing, upgrading, and using modules.  Maybe they will, maybe they won't.  But let's think about success defined more broadly.  Like the work we did to get Pixonic to address the "stealth bug," organized groups of players have potential to change Pixonic for the better, regardless of the outcome.  It DEFINITELY has the chance to build solidarity among players.  And solidarity is power.

We should view the actions regarding modules in the broader context of labor relations - we don't work for Pixonic, of course, but organized labor unions going on strike is probably the form of economic protest we are most familiar with.  Everybody knows what a strike is, but have you ever heard of a "wildcat strike?" This is when workers take action on their own.  They might stop work, or slow it down.  They might pass information to consumers while on the job.  And this is how I see the many groups saying "no" to modules.  Some won't buy them at all, some won't use them in squads, and some will just take a wait-and-see approach.

All of these efforts show Pixonic some consumer discontent with the product.  The company could decide on a different pricing model.  It could make modules less powerful, or not available on robots that already sport a special ability.

While the U does not have an official position on the module protest at this time, we are discussing it and recommend you do the same.  Share the information with your clan mates, so they are aware of the effort players are making.

Have a great holiday season, and we'll see you in 2019 if not before!
Your humble servant,
Doc Yat
