The Art of the Assist begins today!

Fellow Pilots,
In sports, players are credited with an “assist” for an act that immediately precedes a teammate’s scoring play.  In our game, there are countless ways to create opportunities for teammates - beacon running, shielding, double teaming, flanking, and more.  The common thread: this kind of play is selfless.  It’s helpful.  It makes your team win.

In honor of all those pilots who do the little things, Pixonic and War Robots University are teaming up to recognize your efforts with a FREE ROBOT of your choice.

The theme for week one, beginning TODAY February 5th, 2018, is "Taking One For The Team."  You will use a shield, either physical or energy, to assist a teammate.  I suggest viewing Dr. Droopy Sack's brilliant video dissertation on the double Ancile Carnage.

To enter, capture screenshots or video of your work, and share it as a reply on my thread "Taking One For The Team" at the War Robots Forum.

Contest rules:
  • Do something awesome to help your team.
  • Capture your awesomeness in 1-3 screenshots or a video of 90 seconds or less.  Use the keyword #WRassist in the title of your video.
  • Feel free to caption or describe your assist using less than 150 words.
  • Post your "assist" as a reply to the War Robots University post in “general” which announces the weekly theme at http://war-robots-forum.freeforums.net
  • Dr. Yat’s selections will be based on the instructive value and uniqueness of your post; decisions will be final
  • Prize robots do not include update 3.6 (Strider and Spectre are off limits for now)

Advice(s):
  • Damage isn't awesome (or particularly helpful) by itself.
  • Results screenshots are not awesome in the absence of context.
  • Posts that criticize or demean other pilots will not endear the judge to your entry.
DISCLAIMER - ALL OF THE SIX WINNERS WILL GET A ROBOT FROM PIXONIC.  It's a PROMOTION.  Pixonic gets players, the U gets readers, and you get robots.  If you don't think that's fair, above board, or you just don't like it, DO NOT ENTER.  That way the University won't provide something free to an ungrateful bastard.*

*Said with love, but if you are one of those bastards, we aren't really interested in hearing about it.

Your humble servant,
Dr. Yat

PS: Great minds think alike, so I wanted to alert you to Manni Gaming's February teamwork challenge #WRGotYourBack.  You can check it out here.

In basketball, no one has ever been better at the assist than John Stockton - a short, unassuming white guy who drove to his NBA games in the family minivan.

  1. Hey Dr. Where y’at?

I wanted to know that is it the only way to enter in this contest that I need to add a comment on your thread in WAR ROBOTS Forum?
Please reply! Thank you so much

  2. If I'm putting in multiple entries to the contest, is it better to make a new post for each entry, or to bundle them all together as one post with multiple entries/situations?
