The New "Way of the Carnage" and a Contest for You!

Fellow Pilots,
If you played War Robots over the weekend, you probably saw a lot of my not-favorite clan, Stoned Raiders, doing what they do best.  What they do best, of course, is squad up in groups of six to exploit the current matchmaking system.  In case you don't play in the Champion League, Pixonic tells us that there are too few Champions for the matchmaking to only include the champions themselves in the pool of available opponents.  Thus, the Stoned Raiders either wait until a similar group is available - something that would take a long time - or they seal club the rest of us with their fully Mark 2/level 12 robots and weapons.  As described in my post "The True Costs of War Robots," hangars like those used in CDxx would cost thousands to obtain and years to upgrade.

Countering the rising tide of HeyCheese and Bulgarians* is a top priority for the U's research, so we are looking into lower-cost builds like the one below.  "Sir Shocks A Lot" has range and strong defensive capability.  Like all robots with physical shields, he has a natural barrier against the Shocktrain.  We hope to deliver a full report just a couple weeks after update 3.6 drops.
*I actually like cheese and people from Bulgaria.

Until then, one of my all-time favorite War Robots videos remains Shaolin Rogue's "Way of the Carnage."  Using five Carnages - two with Zeus, one with Tridents, and two with Thunders - Dr. Rogue demonstrated the technique of "be everywhere, be nowhere" perfectly.  Carnage is a double heavy weapon ambush machine, but it's fragile, so rush in and rush out with care!

Even on the test server way back in March 2017, it was reasonably obvious that Dash robots would dominate the game.  When released, the Korean set immediately replaced the Ancile/Taran Lancelot as the weapon of choice for the so-called "League of Legends."  Whereas Lancelots were deployed in about 50% of the available slots in Legend League hangars, at last check Dash robots were over 80% with HeyCheese accounting for the lion's share of those.

So it is tremendouly refreshing to see people still exploring the ways we can utilize that venerable ambush machine.  In this video, Droopy Sack reinvents the Carnage as a one man protection detail.  With two Anciles and thus no offensive weapons at all, Professor Droop takes firing lines away from the enemy team by placing himself directly between his teammates and the enemy.

The U is intrigued, and suggests that in many instances, one strong Ancile will be enough.  Along with the Carnage's built-in shield, one can have around 200K of energy shield plus one offensive heavy weapon.  Thunder is a great choice, as you can knock enemy shields down; Ember works for great firepower.  Natasha can carry around two Anciles and two light weapons, with speed being the major tradeoff.  Raijin has the same configuration as Carnage and adds a physical shield.  We've yet to see much teamwork with this plodder, though; it seems that teammates don't have the patience to work with this build.

Your personal Secret Service agent!

My Carnage can run with Dark Vagabond's Lancelot ...

Or he can run with a Death Button Griffin!

Even more fun for me has been the Fury with two Anciles and Thunder.  Protect a slow moving teammate, like this triple Tempest evil twin brother, and you will beat your opponents into submission!

Last but not least, we've worked out an arrangement with Pixonic for a contest on this blog.  The theme will be helpful, selfless game play.  I'll be posting directions, and you will be winning robots.  Stay tuned!

Your humble servant,
Dr. Yat
