Tanker Tuesday: Black mamba out

Fellow pilots,
Using the "Subscribe" link in the upper right of this blog, you can now be notified by email when I post!  The only thing more awesome?  Being notified as the actual words from my brain came into being on the screen ... tomorrow's technology, I guess.  Anyway, please subscribe so that you get the notification and I can later charge advertisers billions to send you spam and target you with their ads for razors and Viagra.

Today's tanker alert comes courtesy of "Black mamba out."  Thanks, mamba, for the loss.  You suck. There's good news, however: you can find opponents on your level if you play "Go Fish" as a volunteer in your local primary school.  Plus, the kids can always use a little help with their math(s) and spelling(s)*.

*I'm an American living in the UK, where there isn't a single "math," but many "maths."

If you want to let your ranking fall, there are ways to do it without sabotaging the game for others.  Try beacon running.  Get 3-4 fast robots going in Domination mode (the beacons change hands a LOT more often when the enemy can't spawn his Ancilot at the same place after being killed).  You won't score a lot of damage, so you'll only go up a couple points when you win.  But you'll be falling -22 or thereabouts every time you lose.

No need to score high damage ... when you rock the beacons, your team wins and you may fall in the rankings.  This is also the easiest way to get gold, outside of daily tasks.

You could also play in squads with higher ranked players than yourself.  You get pulled up to the level of the highest player in your group, so the same thing happens in the rankings (up a little when you win, down a lot when you lose).  Plus, this way you get to see the game's biggest seal clubbers -Stoned Raiders, HEAT, Imperial, etc, up close.  It's super fun for them (smile for the camera, you heartless bastards) to annihilate your Leos and Griffins with their HeyCheese in uncompetitive three-minute battles.

Professor Yat's recommendation: don't tank.  If you do, I'm going to find you and make fun of you.  If you are in one of those seal-clubbing clans, it would be great if you guys would take it down a notch as well.  It's not a demonstration of skill to run a squad of champs with maxed out Dash bots - you are showing that you aren't interested in a fair game.  And you are what Black mamba is running from.

Here's another tanker: "Death" (plus unpronounceable symbols) is dipping out of the match after a beacon or two, leaving his team in a 5 vs. 6 situation.  This is common behavior during events, when tasks can be accomplished quickly in this manner.  The result, however, is about a 25% win rate for your team.  Don't. Do. It.  Further, this seal clubber had 140 wins in a row (if you count killing defenseless newbies as a victory) and has won almost 11,000 battles.  He's running a level 1 Stalker, desperately hoping to drop down and play against weak opponents.  Because that's what he does.  You can see it in the stats.  Death, you suck even worse than Black mamba out.

Be careful out there,
Yat

PS: Because I don't love being negative/overly critical, there will be posts in the very near future about some of the best players I come across.  That's a lot more fun for both of us.

  1. I take screenshots of every tanker I come across, either on the way down or clubbing their way up. It ruins the game for everyone, being in silver 3 on my android account I see a lot of tankers on their way up, if on my team or the reds, it's irritating! I'm trying to win, I'm trying to cap beacons and do damage.. That's tough to do when moments from a beacon I get overtaken by a 12/12 mk2 hey-hey who then proceeds to dash in and rip apart the reds before I can change direction after having the beacon stolen from me. This results in very little damage and no beacons for me so in the event of a win I get little silver and no gold and if we lose its lost cups where otherwise I might have been up towards the top of the ranking where I lose nothing. One on the red team is just as bad, I'm a brawler so I'm always up front trying to grab those first critical beacons and hold them.....This results in me being clubbed badly, often resulting in me botting out early and with little damage, I've been decimated by mk2 12/12 tempest fury on Yama , guy was nested up at like 900m off to the side of center, I went down in my rog at center after capping it, every other attempt to leave spawn (domination mode) was met with instantaneous death from that guy, he had the bridges covered from his vantage point as well as center. My ancilot lasted under 6 seconds and never made it off our home side. My total damage was 175k done by my rog before he got into his position, after that he made sure I never fired another shot. The guy racked up 19 kills that game.... As for me? I stopped playing for about a week and a half I was so irritated.
Tankers need to have their accounts deleted perminantly and their IP address blocked. A public flogging wouldn't be out of line either.
    Sincerely,
    The GrainReaper.

    1. Without question or defensible argument, tankers are (indirectly) completely ruining War Robots for so many players. And although it is their 'direct' actions that has created this environment, of course Pixonic has directly allowed this type of play-style to continue. Can one place fault in others for merely exploiting the conditions of the game to their advantage ?
I remain to be perplexed and find it unfathomable that Pixonic has continued to fail so many in this regard as a result of their inaction, thus neglect, of the very mass of players that have allowed them their success.
Although I feel it is not completely fair to place the full blame on 'tankers' for the current state of the game, I do , however, feel that they are all dishonorable players without morale nor ethics and should all receive an asterisk permanently placed on their profile.
      Dissapointed,
      Dominic M

  2. Dom and GR, stay tuned - I have heard directly from Pixonic about tanking, and I will share the specifics as soon as they are shared with me. I can say that they want to get the tankers in their proper league to alleviate the issue of non-champs playing against Master and Champion league opponents. More to follow (I hope).
