Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight

Fellow Pilots,
The robots available for workshop points have always been fun.  They each bring something unique to the table, from the Stalker's stealth to the Rhino's charge.  I'm a fan of Raijin's health and firepower, but today we feature the first "glass cannon" in the War Robots universe: the Carnage.

Carnage is said to be modeled after the Bell UH-1, which brought a whole bunch of death and destruction to Southeast Asia in the 1960's.  American military helicopters are traditionally designated with the names of indigineous people, with this one officially called "Iroquois," but UH somehow stuck as "Huey."

Some Carnage facts:

  • Our glass cannon got a health and ancile buff in 2016, but still only possesses 114K health at level 12.
  • Carnage is one of the slowest robots to upgrade, taking 5 days and 10 hours to go from level 11 to 12.
  • Carnage is the only robot among the lights or mediums that mounts a pair of heavy weapons.

And speaking of heavy weapons, it's a good time to be a Carnage pilot because we've never had more diversity in this weapon class. We have the venerable Thunder and Trident, and we have the new toys like Ember, Dragoon, and Redeemer.  There's even a heavy Gekko in development to give the Trebuchet a run for its money.

The Carnage isn't hard to pilot - it's hard to pilot well.  It's difficult to stay alive.  Yes, you can sneak up on your enemies and blast them.  Just be careful, because it's a two-street and you have the least health of all the medium robots.

We tested three of the new weapons and created a short video for your viewing pleasure.  The U likes Dragoon for its 600m range, pinpoint accuracy, and automatic reloading.  Ember is a terrific corner shooter - in the video, no other weapon would have made the kill between buildings - and treats all shields with the same disdain.  Redeemer penetrates energy shields, complements the range of Tarans and Magnums, and deals tremendous damage.  Double any of them up on a Carnage, and somebody's gonna get their head kicked in tonight!  If you run a Carnage as a protection detail for other robots, try one of these new weapons with an Ancile (Dr. Yat likes Ember for maximum pain and Thunder to knock down enemy shields).

Finally, while the fans of this blog surely number in the twenties or even thirties 😉, there's always some jackass who has something nasty to say in the comments section of Reddit or the War Robots forum.  Buddy, I don't know why you are wasting your time.  Don't read it.  Don't write us.  In the immortal words of Nigel Tufnel, "Don't even look at it."

For the rest of you, take two days off and enjoy the game!  Happy Friday,
Dr. ZoSo

  1. How long does it take a two MK2 Embers on a Carnage to destroy another average health robot?

    1. Not very long! My carnage has a level 12 and a level eight Ember, both MK2 ( haven’t had time to level the second one, and the first usually rides an Inquisitor). Recognizing that not everyone will take the time to get two of these weapons, I would mount thunders or Zeus.

  2. Not even a short mention of the dual Zeus setup, very popular and effective indeed.

    1. I think the purpose of this post was to show how effective Carnage is at a short range brawler. It was never stated that a Carnage was an ineffective long range robot, it was just never mentioned. The post was also focused on using the Carnage with new weapons, which most pilots do not have access to.

    2. We thought that most pilots were well aware of Thunders, Tridents, and Zeus. If not, then "The Way of The Carnage" (YouTube) is required viewing!

  3. Hi all, it might not be for everyone, but I am currently running Carnage with an Ember/Tempest setup. Tempest depletes ancil and physical shields fast making my team mates joining in on the... ahm... carnage, more effective. And even if the red Ancilot sends my Carnage to the eternal junk pile, it’s typically left in a desolate state and an easy take-down for team blue.

    1. Sounds good - I've been trying out Ember/Ancile for protection and destruction ...
