Get Your Super Dash On (plus Anomalous Battle Reports)

Fellow Pilots,
First things first: I will be away from the U until Wednesday 18th April, visiting the home of golf, whiskey, and this monster:

With luck, I'll be posting away by the end of next week.  We've got some great new stuff, especially regarding Inquisitor, the robot that's about to appear in a million hangars at once!

I don't need to tell you that there are a million Dashers out there, and Pixonic added a Kumiho to nearly everyone's hangar in the first month of supply drops.  Every now and then, you see one fly off a ledge for quite a distance beyond the norm.  The kids these days call it a "Super Dash."  Feisty Raccoon of Clan Stoned Raiders made a GREAT video to help make this move part of your repertoire!

There are a few obvious places where a "super dash" can be a game-changer.  Being first to center in a Beacon Rush game on Yamantau can put your team in the driver's seat for the whole match.  You can instantly zoom into striking distance on unsuspecting opponents.  It looks cool and feels like you are in the cockpit of a fighter jet.

My first Dash was a HeyChee, when the winners of the writers' contest were allowed their pick of the Korean Set.  Although Pixonic later began providing gear that was advanced to high levels (usually MK2/level 8), we got the dashers fresh out of the box at level 1.  So I began a VERY long slog to get this guy leveled all the way.  In total, bringing a Dash bot to level 12 twice takes almost 55M silver and 40 days (or 8600 Au).  It might not be news to you, but just in case, when you level up a robot with a built-in shield, the shield absorbs even more damage.  This is why a Bulgasari is impossible to bring down without having 38 Orkans trained on it at the same time.

So, a MK2/level 12 Haechi has 180,000 health plus a fast-regenerating Ancile that absorbs 81,000 damage.  If you have a Dash robot of any kind, we strongly recommend leveling it up all the way.

Bonus video (very short) to help your Kumiho avoid stumbling and tripping ... which we REALLY hope Pixonic takes care of at some point!

Anomalous Battle Reports

We don't get to play KOTH very often because of the long wait times, but we recently had a battle in which Professor Serpent ran like a fool, won 13 gold while scoring ZERO damage!

Beating clan New Order (ranked #18 by activity level - these Russians play a LOT) when they squad up is extraordinarily rare.  In fact, their motto is "MESS OF THE BEST DIE LIKE THE REST (sic)."  If you should best them with a random player doing heavy lifting on your team, please consider inviting said random to the reindeer games afterward!

Have a great time with your new dashing skills, and wish me luck understanding the locals after a few pints.
Your humble servant,
Dr. Yat

  1. You probably won't get this until you get back from your trip, but what are your feelings about the new healing robots?

  2. I’m optimistic about them in principle, because it could foster teamwork. But I won’t know until I see it in action!

    1. Seems like a great way to get people to group up for Shocktrain shots

    2. I'm a little worried about the new robots that heal. According to Pixonic not only can they heal others (I love that part. It is called teamwork people!) but they can also heal themselves. It is worrisome to think that a healing robot can not only heal others, but itself. In this matter they would be invincible. While I love the idea of a healing robot to encourage teamwork, I just hope that they don't become invincible because of the self-heal. We will just have to wait and see.

    3. i don't think these robots will be invincible. For one, the healing probably takes time. Second, the robots will not have very powerful weapon slots. Third, while it can heal, it likely does not have a lot of health. This might spiral out of control, though, if someone decides to have a squad consisting of one ancilot and five healers. :P
